The accelerated transition to cloud services and the rising adoption of cloud hybrid architecture is being leveraged by threat actors, who are both targeting cloud environments and weaponizing them as an attacking surface. On-premise misconfigurations and vulnerabilities have been replaced with new risks and attack paths which abuse cloud and cross-platform connectivity. In this session, the Sygnia team will discuss a few of the major trends in cloud environment attacks and present a new open-source tool, designed to support rapid visualization and the identification of potential attack paths in cloud environments.

In collaboration with the German Ministry & EU Delegation, this panel will discuss how cybersecurity can be further strengthened by research & innovation in regards to devices connected to the internet, including machines, sensors and networks that make up the Internet of Things (IoT). 
Main elements of the discussion shall be drawn from the initiative of the German EU council presidency to implement cybersecurity requirements for Internet of Things (IoT) on a European level. Once adopted, such requirements will have deep impacts on the market, mostly for companies from third countries (manufacturers of IoT, but also on cybersecurity providers offering security functionalities for IoT, e.g. from Israel). 

Under EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data transfers from Europe must meet strict standards of data protection. EU’s Court of Justice recent decision in Data Protection Commission v. Facebook Ireland (“Schrems 2”) highlighted the urgent need for an interoperable international framework for data protection and privacy. Other countries around the world are imposing data localization requirements. How should Israel respond to these new developments to ensure the continued success of its vibrant technology industry? What are the strengths and shortcomings of the Israeli model? How does the local cybersecurity sector improve or hinder Israel’s integration into European data zone? In this session, leading European policymakers from the European Commission, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) meet with Israel’s Ministry of Justice to discuss the past, present and future of data flows. 

In 2010, Prof Isaac Ben Israel was appointed by the Prime Minister the role of creating a national cyber plan. His strategy was adopted and implemented by the Israel National Cyber Directorate led by Professor Eviatar Matania. Two years ago, Prof Ben Israel and Prof Eviatar were tasked by the Prime Minister with the mission to create a national plan for Artificial Intelligence.
